I’m on the cusp of kicking off my Retro Gaming Project! Before diving into the games, I needed to give some more thought to how I’d critique or analyse the games I was playing.  This was so that I could record the game design tips I observed in a more systematic and useful manner.  To avoid turning this into a project unto itself, I sort some input from the IGDA Sydney Facebook group.  The Mechanics-Dynamics-Aesthetics Model and Jesse Schell’s “Lens” (as per his “The Art of Game Design: A Book of Lens” text) were given the thumbs up, in addition to going with gut feel an intuition.  So…I’ll use these – for more info check out my game dev stuff page.  Hopefully I’ll be able to blog about some game experiences soon – starting with the Atari 2600!!!
